和田氏盗作、スギ氏サイトで見解公表

livedoor ニュース:[盗作疑惑]洋画家・和田氏の受賞作、伊画家の作品に酷似 アルベルト・スギ氏本人が和田義彦氏の盗作疑惑について自身のサイトで見解を30日に発表した。
"I was informed, at first by the Japanese embassy in Rome and then directly by officials from Tokyo, of an investigation by the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan on accusations brought against Japanese artist I oshihiko Wada. Wada, who was recently awarded an important Education Minister's prize, is accused of having plagiarised my work. Through an examination of the catalogues and photographs presented to me, I was able to verify that most of Wada’s work is an exact copy of my paintings. I was very disturbed.

This gross plagiarism violates the rights of the artist as sole owner of his image: a very serious offense under international law, which Wada perpetrated to obtain considerable personal advantages.

At the same time I consider all the relevant committees have acted carelessly by giving credit to a plagiariser who has ultimately defrauded them too.

The entire episode must have caused a sensation when you consider that I have been literally surrounded by media, journalists, from Japanese radio and television for the last couple of days! "

もうカンカン。「40年来の知己」が和田氏を呼び捨てで「剽窃者」とし、怒りは不注意な文化庁や取材に殺到した日本のメディアへも向けられている。和田氏にとっては画家同士のつもりでもスギ氏にとっては、やたら訪ねて写真撮りに来るファンの美術好事家と見えていたようだ。
和田さんにもカツ丼食ってもらわんと収まらないようだ。
